On June 18, the opening ceremony of IBIH and Slovakia’s Trnava production base was successfully held. This milestone marks another important step in IBIH's global strategic outreach and at the same time, filled a critical gap in localized supporting facilities for the European’s fast-growing electric vehicle industry. Representatives from the Slovak Ministry of Economy, the Embassy of China in Slovakia, the Mayor of Trnava, leaders of the Slovak University of Technology, as well as experts in the aerogel field from Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and other countries attended the event in person to offer their congratulations and engaged in in-depth technical exchanges with the IBIH team.
The new plant will focus on the research, development, and production of aerogel insulation materials based on silicon dioxide, a core component of power battery thermal management systems, providing comprehensive support for the safety upgrade of Europe’s new energy vehicle industry. The project achieved production readiness within one year from site selection to commissioning, demonstrating the efficient collaboration between the company's cross-national team, local employees, and industry partners.
In the inaugural address, Dr. Wang YunHong, President of IBIH, stated that China and Slovakia have long maintained a solid foundation for industrial cooperation. Decades of continuously deepening technical exchanges and manufacturing collaboration have laid strong strategic foundation for IBIH's deepening presence into the Central and Eastern European market and the construction of overseas manufacturing base. With the completion of the Slovakia plant, IBIH brought its proprietary aerogel core technology and mature manufacturing system to Europe, aiming to provide the European market with safer and more sustainable mobility solutions.
Regarding the reasons for selecting Trnava, Slovakia as the central location for the European manufacturing centre, Dr. Wang highlighted that Slovakia possesses a mature automotive industry ecosystem, extensive industrial talent reserves, and a well-established upstream and downstream supply chain. In the near future, this site will serve as a fully localized production hub for IBIH in Central and Eastern Europe, significantly shortening order response and delivery cycles for European customers. This will comprehensively enhance supply chain stability and resilience for European automotive OEMs.
This project was jointly developed by IBIH and its strategic partner, JiLin JinHong Auto Parts Co.,Ltd. Both parties have deeply integrated their respective expertise in aerogel R&D technology, mature cross-border factory operation and management, and deep understanding of local European market channels. Together, IBIH & JH aim to provide European power battery manufacturers and vehicle manufacturers with cost-effective, one-stop power battery thermal safety solutions.
Currently, the global power battery industry continues to evolve toward higher energy density. The challenges associated with battery thermal runaway and thermal safety management are increasingly prominent. As a result, the importance of high-performance aerogel insulation materials continues to grow in areas such as battery safety, vehicle energy efficiency, and related applications. With localized production capacity established in the Slovakia plant, IBIH can continue to provide stable supplies of high-quality aerogel insulation and fireproof materials, helping the European automotive industry accelerate progress toward carbon reduction and carbon neutrality goals.
The commissioning of the Slovakia plant is not only an important node in IBIH’s globalization strategy but also a demonstrative project showcasing the deepening cooperation between China and Slovakia in advanced manufacturing and new energy materials. In the future, IBIH will continue to increase production capacity, improve its quality management system, and deepen collaboration with local supply chains, providing stronger support for the long-term development of Europe's new energy mobility industry.
During the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the factory and observe firsthand completion of aerogel product manufacturing process, testing laboratories, and intelligent production lines.
